Carol Mose
Certified Professional Inspector
Carol has completed more than 2000 inspections
“People often ask me, when will the inspector be here? She’s here, I tell them. They’re usually pleasantly surprised that their home will be carefully inspected by a woman.”
Carol Mose graduated at the top of her class in the Vanier College Home Inspection Program in 2008 and has inspected over 2000 homes since then. The inspection trade is in her blood; she’s proud to be part of the family business.
“Maybe it’s the teacher in me, maybe it’s the handy-woman and craftsperson, or that I’m genuinely curious and like to solve problems. I love working outside, and helping demystify buildings for people.”
“I feel like every inspection is about giving the buyer a crash course in home ownership!”
Hailing from a background in mathematics, Carol comes to home inspection with a head for logic and an eye for detail. Having worked professionally as a ceramicist, she has a unique depth of knowledge about building materials such as concrete, brick, and plaster. – Not only can she tell if a brick building needs repair, but she can also tell the quality of the brick. “I remember looking a crumbling brick wall thinking ‘that brick was under-fired when it was produced, it’s too porous, too fragile for the Canadian climate.”
Carol has a talent for explaining complex problems in layman’s terms, putting clients who have little knowledge about home systems and repair at ease. After years of inspecting, she knows what to expect in all types of buildings. She has inspected buildings from 1740 right up to modern day. Suburban homes, plateau triplexes, and modern condos are all in her portfolio. She has earned the name “crawl space ninja” for her drive to go the extra mile past the cobwebs in those 3 foot tall spaces under the home. “If I fit through, I’ll go. Spiders don’t scare me when I have my Yankees cap on.”
She is very methodical and pragmatic in her approach to inspection, and makes sure to give the home a complete once-over before packing up her ladder and notebook. “All buildings have their strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to the buyer which challenges they want to tackle. I’m there to help them make an informed decision.”
When she’s not inspecting homes, Carol enjoys upgrading her 1922 duplex, and crafting high-end ceramics.
Carol is a graduate of the Vanier Residential Building Inspection program, a fully insured inspector and is a fully certified member of APCHQ. She is fluent in French and English and provides reports in either language.
Carol successfully completed the Mose Inspection Field Training Program.
