At Billdr, we reinvent the way renovations are done by guiding homeowners through the process from start to finish. We also build tools to help general contractors work more efficiently throughout the home renovation process.
In 2011, co-founder Bertrand Nembot ventured into house flipping (buying, renovating and selling property). But the difficulty of finding quality contractors soon started to pose too much financial risk. One general contractor went bankrupt, resulting in losses of more than $20,000. Two contractors failed to provide quality renovations within a reasonable timeframe, which is critical for a successful project. After only two years of flipping houses in the Greater Montreal area, he deemed the experience a flop.
